Therapeutic Diathermy
OrthoCor's unique therapy is based on the science of therapeutic diathermy (TD) and the safe delivery of therapeutic energy. Diathermy has been used for over 50 years and has extensive documentation to its effectiveness. Historically, diathermy was delivered using a large, clinical unit. Now this combination of energy therapy and heat can be delivered with a simple, compact knee cuff.
The Following is some information on the product we are featuring. The OrthoCor Active Knee System uses pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) technology to deliver TD. PEMF has been shown to stimulate an ion-ligand bonding reaction that binds Calcium (Ca2+) to calmodulin (CaM), resulting in the production of nitric oxide (NO). One of the effects of NO is the stimulation of other reaction pathways that result in pain reduction, as well as inflammation reduction which, in turn, leads to edema reduction.
